# What Is Goal Tracking?

**Goal tracking** enables advertisers to analyze which traffic sources drive visitors to their websites and optimize their advertising campaigns accordingly.

When you enable the **'Goal tracking'** option, AADS appends a suffix to your ad link. This suffix allows you to identify the publishers that generate sales for your campaign. For instance, it can help you reward high-performing publishers through [the Goal Tracking API](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gXX0stQTkPsSG5MN5R0xsMVFvm3I_0pnPqNn1ha4VMY) and potentially receive more impressions from them.

Although goal tracking is primarily used for analysis, it can also be enabled without setting up the API call.
